Classic Ford Show
Mallory Park Circuit June 2nd 2019
The Classic Ford Show takes place at the Mallory Park Circuit, which provided a lovely country drive out in the Fiesta ST. On arrival at Mallory, good signage took us to the grass parking and the marshals assisted with placing us on the field. Parking is quite close to the entrance, although not ideal for us with all our camera equipment. You can return to the vehicle by getting a hand stamp, but it is quite a distance.
Entry is well organised and took seconds.
Around the outside of the race track, the area was full of great classic Fords from dozens of enthusiasts’ clubs.

Some had come quite a distance, from Spain, Holland and Belgium.
We recognised quite a number of clubs because they also put on their own events.

A lot of the site is given over to camping. The club and camping scene looked very popular and is probably one of the big attractions of this small show.
Food is provided by several vendors on the outside of the circuit and there is also a large cafe on the inside of the Circuit.
Crossing to the inside is a little slow, due to the use of a very narrow bridge, or waiting for a gap in racing to allow access across the track. Crossing the track is the only way into the inside of the circuit if mobility is restricted.

The inside of the circuit was also full of classic Fords and a large number of racing and modified cars.
We loved the great Rover V8 powered Anglia of Rob Elliott from www.robtechservices.co.uk which was so well presented.

Another very attractive and eye catching car was this Mazda 323 powered1600cc turbo 4 wheel drive 1967 Ford Anglia105e.
Many cars were displayed with quite a selection of engines, and how Cibie ever stayed in business following the discontinuation of the Escort, I will never know.
Some Capris were very standard and on a brighter day would have been concours, some were modified and some… well it wouldn’t do for us all to like the same thing.
Overall, we think the show and racing will appeal to all car enthusiasts, but should be on any classic Ford owner’s bucket list, and if you can get a club weekend with camping, it would be even better.
Unfortunately, the event was cut a little short, with an absolute downpour around one o’clock and many people made a run for it, due to very little shelter on site.

There is always one and it's not even a classic.
