Porsche on the Prom
May 19th 2019, Llandundno, Wales
Our day started at 5.30am with breakfast and then a 3 hour drive on the scenic route over the Pennines to Llandudno. By the time we got onto the Pennines, a light rain had set in. I knew it would rain because the BBC, using two pine cones and a paper towel had forecast dry weather.
We arrived around 9.30 and were directed and parked with around 50 other Porsches along the Promenade. The cars just continued arriving until a little less than a mile of the Promenade was full - two rows of nothing but Porsche splendour.
We had a walk into the George Hotel where they provided food and drink. It was a great gesture, to be provided with a free breakfast, but it was pretty poor fare. If it had not been free, I would have asked for my money back. It was good to have a meeting place other than the Prom, especially due to the weather at the start of the day.
The weather then picked up and became a lovely, if breezy, sunny day.
The cars. Well, they all looked great. There must have been getting on for 1000. From 356s to the new 992, with only the top specials like the Carrera Gt and 959 missing.
It was a brilliant day out, we had some great chats and looked at some wonderful cars.
We also had a fantastic drive back through the Peaks and Derbyshire Dales, thanks to a traffic jam, sat nav reroute and great navigator.
