PCGB Automotive Photography with Canon . April 14th 2018
The event was at the PCGB headquarters at Moreton in Marsh.
The day started with coffee/tea and croissants and the car park was full of Porsches by 9am.
Introductions were made by General Manager Chris Seaward PCGB who then gave us a quick idea of what the day entailed.
Canon’s Frankie Jim introduced the brand and Canon services, and we had the opportunity to select equipment for use later. The range was awesome and Canon had provided a large quantity of their best equipment to try - from camera bodies to lenses.
The two instructors were professional motor photographers.
Darren Woolway
Darren is an automotive photographer who works on set pieces that take him most of the day to set up and photograph and then quite some time to edit into his commissioned results.
Rod Fountain
Rod on the other hand, is the complete opposite, working many years on Top Gear as their still photographer and sometimes driver, he grabs shots when and where he can.
Both have great websites and years of knowledge and both presented their skills and program in an engaging and interesting way.

Rod had us lying on the floor and climbing ladders to get shots from different angles and using shadow and light to best effect.
During the times we were not taking photos, we either had coffee and lunch, served by PCGB, or watched Mark Lacey demo his skills on Adobe Photoshop.
Mark also edited and prepped everyone’s photos to be printed on the range of large format colour printers provided by Canon.
All in all, it was a busy and entertaining day, run by enthusiastic people. We had time to chat between ourselves about cars and cameras and also see some people’s work.
Highly recommended day for any Canon CPS members (a similar day was provided for them on Friday) or PCGB members if opportunity arises again.
Rennsport on the same estate provided the backdrop for the outside photography and also some cars on the Friday.
