Bugatti Owners Club Prescott Hill Climb
We visited the Bugatti Owners Club, Prescott Hillclimb.
The course is very easy to find from the M5, and is well sign posted. Entry is quick, and parking is generally on grass and marshalled. Parking is next to the track so great for leaving things in the car.
The main paddock area and facilities, like restaurant and shop are accessed either below the start line, or over a footbridge. Disabled parking and easy access is provided near the entrance.
The paddock is open to spectators, and people should be aware of the hazards of moving vehicles, and also noise. The paddock is situated over several areas at different elevations, with vehicle categories parked together. Everything is within easy reach of the facilities, with toilets, coffee kiosks and a restaurant available.
It’s not a cheap place to eat or drink, with breakfast at £8, a bacon cob at £4, and a small coffee at £3 but prices are similar to other events, like Bicester. The food looked plentiful and very good, with a breakfast and lunch menu. Many people took picnics and there are plenty of places to sit and eat, especially with your car nearby.

The Racing
This starts early, at 8.30 on a Saturday morning and runs all day until around 5.30 in the afternoon. Saturday is practice day and you get chance to see most people do at least 2 runs up the hill.
Sunday is race day and following another practice, the timed competition runs. Bikes and cars run in a very well organised event with around 4 vehicles on the hill at any one time.
Some events are run on Saturday only and all information is available on the website.
The cars look and sound fantastic and everyone is more than happy to chat and show you around the cars. The categories are quite complicated and not always obvious, especially the race cars.
Prescott is 80 years old and they know how to run these events. The course is very twisty and runs over 1127 yards which is just over 1km. Times are presented for each corner and a speed trap just under the bridge compares acceleration.
The start is on a slight gradient and cars can reach 110mph by the bridge, it then sweeps left and up to the nearly 360 degree Ettores bend. It then drops down a little to the bottom of the steep climbing Pardon Hairpin. Running through the trees, taking in an S bend before a tight left, it’s uphill around the last ‘semicircle’ right-hander while looking only at the sky. The course climbs 80 yrds in elevation.
Spectators can stand along the side of the track and there are a few viewing platforms. The start is easy to see and a large bank just before the Ettores bend gives good viewing of the bigger part of the circuit.

The programme is £5 and lists all the runners and the following awesome website lists all times.
